Great people, great venues, great weather, great shows — it was All Good in Florida, where we brought the first live concerts in support of the new CD. First was a wonderful audience at the Sarasota Jazz Festival, and then on to St. Pete’s and the charming Side Door Cabaret at the Palladium Theatre (you really do enter through a side door). We had a full house of Brubeck enthusiasts there. Florida-based musicians Ric Craig on drums, saxophonist Dan Jordan and bassist Mark Neuenschwander joined pianist Ted Howe and me in presenting the music from the CD live, jumping right in and doing an excellent job with Ted’s involved arrangements. Loved singing the songs live and sharing the many behind-the-music stories I’ve learned. It’s especially fun to hear from longtime Brubeck fans, who are enjoying hearing these songs in a different light.
