I am so very happy to be invited to join AmaWaterways River Cruises aboard their gorgeous vessel, the AmaDagio, March 25 – April 1, 2016, to cruise the Rhone River through the south of France on a special wine itinerary!
Several years ago, I presented some performances in the Portland area where we paired certain wines with certain songs, based on vintner research showing that music can impact the way a wine tastes. These performances were a blast for the audience and the band, as we watched the aural pleasures of listening to music interplay with the gustatory pleasures of tasting wine! So to be providing the music on a cruise featuring Provence winery visits, onboard wine lectures from wine expert Preston Mohr, fellow vino lovers — well, suffice to say, I’m really looking forward to this!
I’ll be joined by a primo pianist whom I worked with regularly while in Portland, Mike Horsfall. In fact, Mike was the pianist for many of those “Wine and Music” shows. We’ll be performing on three nights of the cruise.
The itinerary for the cruise includes stops in Arles, Avignon, Viviers, Tournon, Vienne, Lyon, and Collonges. Olive and truffle farms, chocolate and wine pairing (you had me at chocolate and wine … ) walking tours, or, the cruise ship provides bicycles so you can wheel your way around these charming towns, too!
“Ama,” derived from the Latin word for “love,” is what AmaWaterways is all about. It permeates every aspect of this river cruise line, from the design of the ship to the itineraries to the high levels of guest service they provide. Large staterooms with balconies, unlimited wines at lunch and dinner, regional specialties on the menu, a staff to guest ratio of 1/3.4, a Chef’s Table restaurant experience … it will all be wonderful, and YOU’RE INVITED!
